The current economic stimulus package recently enacted by Congress put forward by President Obama is good for J1 physicians.  How?  There are a couple of billion dollars for Community Health Centers throughout the United States.  We have worked and supported community health centers for over 5 years. In fact we have donated money, placed well qualified physicians and have given our time and energy to community health centers throughout the US, also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers.  How does this money help J1’s?  Well it is for expansion of FQHC’s and comes out to almost $1.5 million for every FQHC in the US (currently there are just over 1000).  And expansion means more services and more providers like dentists and physicians.  And guess what?  They all qualify as underserved no matter where they are located, in Phoenix, in rural Idaho, or in New York City - an FQHC qualfies as underserved and typically takes priority within all states Conrad State 30 program.  So this money is good for J1’s, good for healthcare and good for the community.  It just doesnt get any better than that.

The J1 Physician Network (www.J1Physicians.com) has actually opened a business center to work solely with FQHC’s throughout the United States. This is a joint venture called FQHCmd along with immigration attorneys and health center CEO’s. We are the only private physician placement and recruitment company that has dedicated resources to solely meet the needs of FQHC’s and the underserved throughout the US.

The benefits to the physician - Salarys are competitive, typically less call and typically more of a 9 - 5 job, also you cannot be sued for malpractice as any claim has to follow the Federal guidelines and not go against the physicians record.  This is great for family and personal life and to think it can be in downtown San Diego and you can still get your waiver.  But be aware, more and more American doctors are jumping on the band wagon and seeking these positions.

This is certainly something to think about during your job search.
